Union Internationale de Banques (UIB) perpetuates its commitment to the Tunisian youth through the InnoLAB by UIB sponsoring of the "Nasa Space Apps Challenge" event, taking place at Ecole Polytechnique de Tunisie (Polytechnic School of Tunisia) at the end of October.

This challenge, launched worldwide by the American spatial agency NASA, encourages innovation and creativity by gathering together young researchers, developers, engineers, students, college students for a 48h hackathon.

During the event, the participants could present their project in front of a jury composed of teachers from Ecole Polytechnique de Tunisie and representatives of partners companies. Eight finalist teams defended their project.

After the jury's deliberation, the two following projects particularly distinguished themselves:

  • "CYBORG CRUSHERS": development of a geolocated application to alert in case of natural disasters and allow quick response of the relief
  • "GBGH": manufacture of an autonomous scanning drone to detect damage on the International Space Station

This event was also an opportunity for UIB teams to share with the participants, to present their products and services and their internship and job offers. They also offered to welcome the students of Ecole Polytechnique de Tunisie and ensure their supervision by its business experts.

The Challenge ended with the awarding of the winners, who will now participate to the national challenge in Tunisia.

The brightest ideas across the Space Apps universe receive global recognition. Global award winners are featured on the Space Apps website and receive an invitation to visit NASA's Kennedy Space Center with the Space Apps Global Organizing Team.
